Indiana Laws on Bed Bugs
Indiana, like all states, enforces several tenant-landlord agreement laws. These laws are designed to ensure that property owners maintain their property and keep it habitable for tenants.
This includes holding the landlord accountable for dealing with any reported bed bug infestations.
In Indiana, this particular law is referenced under Title 32, § 32-31-8-5. The law, while not directly mentioning bed bugs, does state that landlords must keep their property “in a clean and proper condition.”
Are There Bed Bugs in Indiana?
Bed bugs can be found in all 50 states, including Indiana.
They are more common in some regions of the US than others.
(20% of all U.S. reported bed bug infestations occur in the Midwest).
According to Orkin Pest Control, Indianapolis is the 7th worst city for bed bugs in the United States. Another city, Fort Wayne, ranks 33rd on their 2021 list.
Unfortunately for us, bed bugs are highly adaptable creatures. So long as they have regular access to food and shelter, a bed bug population will be sustained no matter where they are.
If you’ve been dealing with an infestation of your own, give us a call at (855) 733-9217 or submit a form on our website. We’ll help connect you with an attorney who will fight for your right for financial reimbursement.
